long ring long land
ch. 303–321
Chapter 318
I actually really enjoyed this Davy Back Fight thing a lot, it was a lot of fun to read! I think Luffy's new flag for the Foxy Pirates is absolutely hilarious haha

GA: underrated arc imo
it gets a lot of hate from anime watchers, because in the anime Luffy gets tricked into firing the pistol a second time, so they have another fight right away
filler stuff
Oh that's kinda dumb that makes sense
AG: in the manga long ring long land is a silly lil stop
in the anime is 13 episodes
thats why it kinda has a bad rap
321
Wow, that encounter with Aokiji was scary... I don't know what to think of that
AA: I know what to think of that

GA: you gotta be sidding me
AG: btw i would reccomend watching the G-8 arc
is an anime only arc but is really good
I was gonna go back and watch the anime eventually in some capacity (maybe One Pace though), is that arc something you'd strongly recommend I see now, or is it okay if I get around to it later?
AG: you def can do later
GA: it's a fun self contained story, no urgency
AG: is just that chronologically it takes place before long ring long land so you can now watch it without a problem
oh what a name "long ring long land" is
I adore it
AG: i mean
It’s fitting don’t get me wrong
AG: thats literally what it is LOL
yea
It's a long ring long land

I love the way the weather is described on the Grand Line: "The climate is sunny and spring-like. Sometimes it is slightly summer-ish."
AG: also talking about non canon movie 4 and 6 are pretty good watches too
Yeah I'd like to see the movies when I go through the anime too
Listen
I'm enjoying this story enough that as of right now I'd like to see everything it has to offer......
Is that naive? Probably
AG: i wouldnt say naive
i would say ambitious for sure
theres only one movie is kind of a obligatory watch
dont worry ill tell you when you get there
There are so many things in this world and elements of this story, that I feel like I want to re-read the manga already and take notes on every character, every devil fruit, every location shown, every pirate crew, everything about how the marines and the world government is structured, and hell even every dial type
Am I going to do that any time soon? Probably not
AG: oh for sure
one piece is very rewarding to re read because theres lots of things that make sense in hindsight that you wouldnt think twice about it on your first read
Yeah that makes sense
I hear that Oda had the ending in mind even back when he first started the story which is crazy to me
Based on the pace I've been reading there's no doubt I will be able to achieve this, but my goal when I started getting into it was to catch up before it ends
AG: yes yes join us in the week by week chapter release hype
absolutely
honestly maybe we should have a one piece thread with how much this channel is used for it
AG: my influence
GA: My treasure? You want it? It's yours, my friend, as long as you have enough rubys
I have fallen hard for this story man
AA: Hell yeah
I thought it was likely I would, it just seemed so daunting from the outside that I've put it off
JY: The One Piece is real
AA: Shjh
AG: get new material
I've seen no proof of this
AG: tbf me neither
lol
JY: No one has yet, except Oda
AG: and that cancer kid
if he is even real
Oda is the only one who knows whether or not the One Piece is real lmao
water 7

I love how willing Chopper is to believe Usopp's stories, like their interactions are just so adorable and uplifting for me
GA: cute little enabler
x|:•3
After a stressful break I have returned to reading with a joint in hand
Btw (323) Water 7 looks absolutely gorgeous
I'm past that just had to say
Chapter 325
Oh my gosh is she just like, making ears appear near people to listen in on whatever she wants? That's so clever

AA: Ye
AG: i tought you said she is just like me had to double take lol
People say that's just like me frfr too much lmao
AG: im people
Yeah I know
AG: :o)
I decided this a while ago actually, but if I got to eat one of the Devil Fruits it'd be hers
Hana Hana no Mi
I kinda wanna cosplay Nico Robin tbh
Woohooo!!! 300 million for that treasure!!!
Luffy just tosses it into the water lmao
(all from 325 still haha)
(326)
I like how every goofy character design like Usopp and this guy's nose are just canon. It's not even just an art-style thing

Thanks for the side-by side comparison lmao

rest of water 7 saga
ch. 327–441
sooo
I pulled an all nighter reading One Piece
oops
I'm through chapter 441, just officially wrapped up the whole Water 7 Saga
and wow
I could not put that down from start to finish
Other than some short breaks here and there
Chapter 441 (All of Water 7 Saga)
That was my favorite saga so far hands down. I thought Water 7 was a lot of fun from the get go, we got a cool new setting, some payoff in the Straw Hats finally getting money from that treasure from Skypeia, and interesting intrigue surrounding what was going on with Nico Robin. I definitely dismissed Franky at first as a pretty minor character, but boy was I wrong. The Water 7 stuff (pre-Enies Lobby) didn't bore me at all at any point, I enjoyed reading it all! I really liked the shipwrights we were introduced to and it was a genuine shock to me later when they turned out to be CP9! It was heartbreaking to learn that the Going Merry was no longer fit for seafaring, but I did think Luffy and Usopp's fight was a little bit avoidable, although they both definitely acted in character. I just think it could have been talked through. As the Aqua Laguna came the tension rose a lot and as we got closer and closer to Enies Lobby, I was on the edge of my seat, but also a little bit worried that the part I'd enjoy was pretty much over, and Enies Lobby would just be a ton of fighting that bores me a little.... Well I think I liked the Enies Lobby stuff even more... Some of the fights did feel a little drawn out and I wasn't totally enthused the whole way through, but I was for most of it. I don't even know what to say about most of the individual pieces honestly, but Oda writes damn good backstories I'll say that. I like Nico Robin even more now, and it's cool to see where she came from and to have her solidly as a crew member a la Nami after Arlong Park. I already distrusted the World Government, but Nico Robin's backstory was the first time where I realized they were demonstrably the bad guys, and that there is some deeper mystery surrounding it's creation. That was an incredible holy shit moment honestly. Franky started out as a character I wasn't super enthused to see when he was around, but like a switch flipping, once he was revealed to be an apprentice of the same guy Iceberg was and that he was tasked with protecting the Pluton blueprints. I thought the convincing him to be a crew member sequence was rather odd and not totally to my taste, but I'm glad he's with us for the ride, I'm excited to see more of him! Now, I think my favorite part of Enies Lobby was how important it felt. I realized soon after they got there that this was something unprecedented for this world. The Straw Hats really did just declare war on the World Government and it was amazing!!! I was thinking the whole time "this is definitely going to give the whole crew bounties and raise Luffy's even more" and of course I was right about that. This arc was just so damn satisfying man. It wasn't easy, but the Straw Hats totally won against the World Government, it was a glorious victory. AND THEN THE FUCKING GOING MERRY SHOWS UP AND GETS THE CREW OUT OF THERE, BEFORE SNAPPING WHEN THEY GET TO THE GALLEY-LA SHIP. AND THEN THE SHIP HAS AN ACTUAL VOICE THAT COMMUNICATES WITH THE CREW, IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SEND OFF FOR A CHARACTER I'VE EVER SEEN, AND IT WAS THE FUCKING SHIP!!!! I WAS ABSOLUTELY BAWLING MY EYES OUT (and it wasn't the first time this arc made me do that). I suppose I've witness the first major character death in One Piece. Rest in Peace Going Merry, you will never be forgotten. The Thousand Sunny seems really cool though I'm excited for the crew's future adventures! Seeing Koby and Helmeppo again was a lot of fun, as well as seeing Garp and Luffy meeting! They meet much earlier in the live action and the thing about Garp being Luffy's grandpa I already knew because of that, but it was a fun reveal to see the crew's reaction. Learning about Dragon was also super cool! What a family!!! Oh and the Ace vs. Blackbeard stuff was crazy too. Controlling the fucking gravity of a black hole like that is insane, probably the most dangerous power I've seen so far... He might end up overtaking Whitebeard.
(damn I like, literally maxed out the character limit for a message there lmao)
Favorite saga
I've read 185 chapters "today" (in the last 24 hours with no sleep and only short breaks)
That's a little bit crazy...ooops
Well it's too late to sleep now I'm gonna take a break and then READ MORE
Listen I have an obsessive personality this is y'all's fault
GA: this is very relatable
I remember watching the entire one piece anime for the first time over the course of like two months
the pacing was so abysmal that I ended up finding myself pressing the button to skip 5 seconds over and over again and mostly reading the subtitles
at that point I should have just read the manga
JJ: me except i just switch my brain off
AG: fun fact when water 7 was going on people where convinced that paulie was going to join the strawhats and not frankie
Huh, I considered it for a second but I didn't think he would.
