One Piece Chapter 489
Thriller Bark was such an interesting arc, I was not expecting One Piece to go into zombies and the horror aesthetic but it was really cool! The first part of the arc I thought was dragging on. The setting was interesting but it felt like nothing was really happening. Once the group got more acclimated with the environment and we started getting the classic One Piece one-on-one fights where the crew members split up and take care of certain enemies, I had a LOT more fun with it. I thought the devil fruit powers this time around were really neat, and the fights were super creative. I ESPECIALLY loved Usopp taking down Perona! I was pretty entertained throughout the rest of the arc after the initial hurdle. BUT I FUCKING LOVED THE BROOK STUFF! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THE STRAW HATS TO COME ACROSS ANYONE FROM LABOON'S CREW! IT WAS SOOO HEARTBREAKING TO LEARN THAT THEY HAD ALL DIED NOT ONCE INTENDING TO BETRAY LABOON..... I bawled my eyes out harder than I have reading anything before at the end when Brook learned of Laboon's safety and when we saw all the flashbacks and when we learned that HE HAD BEEN KEEPING A TONE DIAL WITH THE CREW'S DYING SONG FOR LABOON LIKE HOLY SHIT. Oda is such a good writer man, this story has already become one of my favorites of all time, and I'm kinda terrified that I'm not even halfway caught up yet. I'm excited to have Brook on board the Thousand Sunny, and I'm interested to see where the adventure takes us next!
(I've already started the next arc because I was impatient, but I saw (491) the fucking mermaid and starfish from the Hatchan cover stories just showed up and man I was not expecting that at all so I was like "I better get my thoughts out now while they are fresh.")
I decided I'd take a break yesterday after my all nighter so I spent that time watching YouTube and hanging out with EN
But One Piece is really hard to stay away from haha
CC: best 2 parts of thriller bark are: luffy pushing a zombie back into the ground, and trying to think of how 4kids would have handled brook's backstory since they replaced laboon with an iceberg
Lmao
AA: have you watched the bink's sake song on YouTube?
Yeah I couldn't wait until I got there in the anime so I searched for that scene
Very good
AA: Noice
