one piece: chapter 1129

it's the first chapter i'm reading as it comes out!

i will be doing my best to put out a post for each new chapter as it releases officially. if i miss a chapter, my next post will contain my thoughts on each new chapter until i'm caught up again.

as i read through all of one piece with my friends through discord, i'm going to keep doing that! as i read, i type my reactions there and then come here to make a post about them later. i decided to keep with the style i had of "casual conversation" instead of following the standards i set here on this website.

hopefully the way i'm formatting this isn't too weird: i start off with my initial reactions i write before checking my friends' spoiler tags, and then go to the whole discussion we had after.

anyway, let's dive into this new chapter! what is happening??

Living Dolls

ch. 1129

The chapter is called "Living Dolls"... now at first that makes me think of the small (relative to giants) denizens of this block land. It could imply they were constructed like dolls or that they are living people treated like dolls.

Haha!!! This "Sun God" figure keeps misspeaking! I do wonder what their connection with the sun is, if they are actually a "sun god" figure to the giants or if it's just a name they gave themself as the ruler of this little area!

Iskat is absolutely just this dude's pet cat, who is of course huge because this is Elbaf

A detention center!?!?!?!?!?? What???? Like as in people who misbehave???

Could the giants be shrunk somehow to fit in here??? I don't know if there are a lot of non-giant residents of Elbaf. Unless these are non-giants who tried coming to Elbaf previously?

This doesn't seem like a super official operation like a prison would be. This really seems like some giant's hobby: collecting non-giants (or shrinking giants) in a room to rule his own little world.

Hajrudin??? Is this a reference to a conversation this Sun God had with Hajrudin before the events we see here? Did Hajrudin reject the idea of their capture?

This dude is so dramatic! They really view this world as a stageplay with forced participants!

Okay okay, they and their ship was carried by a giant bird while they were sleeping. That checks out lol

Seems Hajrudin was overpowered, most giants didn't like the idea of following humans, which again, checks out

Hahaha! The "sun god" was not prepared for the crew!! Nami and Zeus takes them out easily!! I'm sure they aren't out though, they'll come back for sure.

I wonder what the significance of this block world is going to be. Since it does seem like we're leaving so soon, we must have a reason to come back here for something. Maybe there's something (or someone) important hidden here, or maybe it's a scale model of a part of Elbaf?

It's definitely the cast being just those five. It's fascinating that we've never gotten an adventure with just these five! Vivi was with us before Chopper and Robin joined right when she left

AG: this guy might be prince loki tho its lowkey the only named character from elbaf so idk

I feel like the crown would be more distinctive...unless he replaced it with this animal skull?? I have no doubt Prince Loki will be relevant but I'm not sold that this is him.
